Caterpie live a simple and wonderfully oblivious life.

Their whole purpose in life is to evolve, so they eat and eat until they build up the strength to turn into their metamorphasis state which is a Metapod.

Caterpies are about the length of an adult mans forarm.
they live in highly forested areas, high in trees or in deep undergrowth.

Caterpies are surprisingly docile aand friendly towards humans and are a good starter pokemon for new trainers, and have also been found to be good house pets as there not messy creatures, easy to feed and are friendly.

Caterpies have yellow circles that run down its back, these are for defence against predators. the predator will get scared or confused, thinking they have many large eyes on them (though most of Caterpies predators are small birds like Pidgey or spearow).

Caterpie also defends itself by using 'string shot', a strong sticky silk that it shoots from its mouth, trapping the predator long enough for it to escape. Caterpie silk is also a well farmed substance as it makes some of the world finest silk.

The redish prong on its head is yet to be understood but some scientists belive it to be a way for the Caterpie to tell each other apart.
