Venonat are interesting creatures.
Nocturnal by nature, during the day they live in large hollowed out trees or caves. At night they emerge and eat tiny insects and plants.
In some parts of Kanto you can find them still out in the early light, however it is rare to see them during the day.

Venonat have very large eyes, that are actually a cluster of millions of tiny eyes that allow it to be wary of predators. It also uses its eyes to hunt. At night You might see small pulses of red light if you live near an area where Venonat lives because their eyes can emmit small amounts of light, symilar to how sonar works with sound, the light bounces off things in the dark and comes back to the eyes, giving it the ability to seek out and find insects. The light that it emmits allows the Venonat to see in a very differnt way to many other species as they can find things many animals could not see with their plain eyes, even in sunlight as it creates a 3D map in their head. Study of venonats is still taking place as scientists are desperatly trying to utalise this process.
Thier eyes are very sensitive to sunlight and trainers are warned to slowly introduce them to battling in light.
Their 'fur' are made of two layers, a brittle outer layer which makes it dificult for predators to eat them whole, and a second finer layer that can break off, these are soaked in poisen and can cause extreamly bad irritation to the skin. In some cases people and animals are allergic and can even cause death.
