Scyther is a rare pokemon, in fact the last of its species type.

Scyther are an ancient species that has lasted for millennia, unchanged. They are called 'Hybroreptilsects', they are a complicated animal as they have both aspects of insects and reptiles. There have only been a few in the evolutionary history but scyther evolved on top. like the shark (another evolutionary design unchanged by time) they are perfectly designed for hunting and killing their prey.

The huge blades on their 'arms' act like rudders when running or flying, allowing it to be almost silent before it attacks.
They then slice either the jugular or the abdomen for a swift and fatal kill. When moving things, or picking things up they use their mouths as they have no hands.

Males have a spiker body while females have a smooth, almost shiny armor, but both are very strong and resilient. Their feet claws allow them to live mainly in the canopy, this helps for hunting prey below them on the jungle floor.

They live mainly in thick remote jungle areas, but due to deforestation their numbers have become smaller and they have had to move out of their original home towards more populated areas. This again resulted in a dramatic loss in population due to farmer setting traps, to stop them killing their farm animals, such as Tauros.

They can 'fly' to an extent but it is used mainly, only for getting from tree to tree, they cannot hold long distant flight. Unlike insects their wings (though fashioned in the same way) do not give off a droning sound and sounds more like rustling leaves in the wind.
